• Summer and Spring Internship Fairs – hear what it’s really like from students that have just been through the process. They know all about the struggle of writing countless applications and attending interviews, but they also know how to succeed... hear it right from the student’s mouth! We will invite a select few students who have just completed a summer (spring) internship to share their experience, followed by a networking session with a larger group.
• BNP Paribas Intra-University FX Challenge – our flagship event this year! The intra-university online trading game aims to put your trading skills up against hundreds of others from universities across Europe... whoever finishes with the most cash will win a special prize courtesy of BNP Paribas.
• Barcap 1-on-1 CV Advice – the first set of eyes to see your application once submitted is always HR. HR will hereby give you one-on-one personal advice on your CV... what’s good, what’s not, what you need to get through the 1st stage...
• Bank of America Merrill Lynch Application/Interview Skills Session – following on from the success of this last year, HR will be sharing their top tips on how to succeed in submitting winning applications and flying through first-round interviews.
• Optiver Numerical Test – the top proprietary trading firm will be holding a numerical assessment day as the first stage of their 2010 grad recruiting class in Term 1.
• Barclays Wealth, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan Specialist talks – from an introduction to Wealth Management to an overview of Global Markets, we are inviting a number of senior speakers from banks to come onto campus to talk to you directly and answer your questions!
• RBS & 7City Live Trading Game – building on the success of this last year, experience what’s it like to be a trader! This will be held in a computer room on campus.
• RBS M&A case study – get some practical exposure to what it’s like to work in M&A.
• Mock Interviews with number of sponsor banks – we all fail interviews sometimes, but learning from our mistakes is key. Sit a mock interview with HR & receive feedback... practice makes perfect!
• Mock Assessment Centres with Warwick Careers and Nomura – for the first time at Warwick, we will be hosting Mock Assessment Centres for those of you who have had never experienced what it’s like or for those of you who keep falling down at the last hurdle. Invaluable!
• Financial Markets Course – for the 3rd year running, the Exec will be working hard to deliver a 5-part series of presentations from Basic Finance to Options & Futures and Investment Banking in Term 2. We will be holding a short exam and award a certificate for those that successfully complete the course.
• The FT Club – the newly established club in Term 2 will provide students with a platform to discuss financial news. This will kick off with a research associate from BNP Paribas holding a workshop on “Reading the Financial Pages”.
